Waterproof: Ipx7(without case), 40m(with case)
4k video: 30fps
1080p video: 60fps
720p video: 120fps
Image sensor: 20 Megapixels
Battery life: 120 minutes

Akaso Brave 7 LE has a number of great features for its price. If the front display and weatherproofing are more important to you than video quality, this should be high on your shortlist. In our testing, we found this model’s audio quality to be better than other non-GoPro models we’ve reviewed (at least in quiet environments), and the touchscreen interface is fairly simple making it a good budget action camera. The camera can also be connected to laptops and TV’s through usb and HDMI.

The only minor issue is the video quality: while the 4K resolution is decent, it doesn’t match the rest of the Brave 7 LE’s features. It relies on reducing noise in low light to give you beautiful photos, while electronic image stabilization is good but not perfect. Still, it’s one of the best cameras on the market for its price, and there’s no difference in the number of features it has at its price point.

Budget action camera

Wolfang GA300

Weight: 67g
Waterproof: now waterproof, 40m(with case)
4k video: 60fps
1080p video: 120fps
720p video: 240fps
Image sensor: 20 Megapixels
Battery life: 80 minutes

If you’re considering buying the GA300 over the GoPro Hero 11 Black, consider the latter, which shoots at 5.3K 60fps, uses 27-megapixel fixed, and has a 10-bit sensor. The GA300 can’t compete with all of them, but it retails for a fraction of the price and comes with plenty of accessories to choose from. In the box you’ll find a waterproof case, an external microphone with micro USB connector, some Velcro straps, mounts and adhesive tapes, a tripod case with threads on both sides, a remote control, bike, J-hook mount and two mounts. The 1,350 mAh battery can be charged inside the budget action camera.

Physically, the GA300 is much simpler. There’s a power switch on the front, a shutter button on the top, and two push buttons on the side for manually navigating the on-screen menus. Fortunately, these menus can also be navigated using the 2-inch touchscreen. Use more than GA100.

Vision 3 Pro features 4K/30 fps video and Super 16 MP images to capture great images in any condition and situation. It uses a 170-degree adjustable angle and a high precision lens to increase light penetration, making the image clearer and brighter. Using a small lens provides a wider angle of view, while a wide angle provides a different angle of view that can be changed according to preference.

The budget action camera can record approximately 90 minutes of 1080P and 60 minutes of 4K, giving you time to get the shots or edits you need. The Vision 3 Pro also features 4x zoom, so clips and photos can be captured from up close or from a distance, depending on the optimal distance for the scene or landscape. Akaso V50X

Weight: 570g

4k video: 30fps
1080p video: 60fps
720p video: 120fps
Image sensor: 20 Megapixels
Battery life: 180 minutes

AKASO V50X is a suitable budget action camera choice for video production. It can record 4K video at 30fps without cropping, which is fair, but it cannot record slow-motion video. The frame rate selection in FHD is somewhat limited, as it can’t record higher than 90fps at this resolution. However, it comes with a variety of accessories and can be easily attached to a helmet or bike, and its clear plastic shell is reportedly waterproof and durable, although we haven’t tried it yet. Unfortunately, the video recording quality is a bit grainy and soft. It’s also not good for photography because it doesn’t have an autofocus system, has a narrow zoom angle, and doesn’t let you change the aperture or shutter speed.

DJI Action Power 2 Combo

Weight: 56g
Waterproof: 10m(without case), 40m(with case)
4k video: 120fps
1080p video: 120fps
720p video: 240fps

It is an updated version of the DJI Osmo Action camera with multiple magnetic modules so users can adjust it according to their shooting needs. The Action 2 uses a 1/1.7″ CMOS sensor, which is larger than the 1/2.3″ sensor in the original Osmo Action camera. Its F2.8 lens has a 155° field of view (FoV) and a new color temperature sensor helps the camera quickly adapt to changing conditions. The camera also features a new stabilization mode called HorizonSteady, which keeps the horizon steady regardless of camera orientation, and DJI’s RockSteady 2.0 technology to reduce shake.

Other features include Time Lapse, Time Lapse, 8x Slow Motion, and Time Lapse Control, which allows users to control the speed and duration of Time Lapse and Time Lapse modes. The camera can be used as a webcam or for 1080/30p live streaming.

To extend battery life, you can attach a front display or an additional battery pack to Action 2. Using one of these devices also allows you to write to a micro SD card, thus freeing up the main module’s 32GB of internal memory. The front display increases battery life from 70 minutes to 160 minutes (display 1080/30p), and the battery pack increases battery life by up to 3 hours. Both modules cannot be used simultaneously.

Most of the action cameras take about 1 to 2 hours to fully charge, also depending upon the battery size

Action Cameras usually lasts 2 to 3 hours but of course it can vary depending upon the settings and other factors of usage.

Newer models of affordable action cameras can be of great use if you are just starting out, just need to conduct your research in your budget segment so you can get the most valuable camera.
