Uttarakhand news: Red alert for heavy rain in six districts today, schools will remain closed

Heavy rain is expected in Uttarakhand today. The Meteorological Center has issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rain in some areas of Nainital, Bageshwar, Champawat, Almora, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar districts. Whereas, a yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued in some parts of Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri and Haridwar districts.

Meteorologists say that there is a possibility of several rounds of heavy rain with strong thunder in the red alert areas. While giving instructions, he said, people living in sensitive areas prone to landslides need to be alert.

Also giving special instructions to the pilgrims doing Chardham Yatra, he said that keep an eye on the steep slopes while traveling. Apart from this, people living in rivers, drains and low-lying areas and settlements have also been advised to be more cautious.
