Simple skincare routine for beginners

First , let’s understand what is skincare routine?

A simple skincare routine is a series of steps and products that individuals follow to take care of their skin, improve its appearance, and maintain its health.

It involves a series of steps that help to cleanse, tone, and moisturize the skin, as well as address any specific concerns or issues that you may have.

At certain age , our skin starts asking that extra care to be healthy and radiant. There’s not a age to start the skincare routine however , the earlier , the better. Plus, tracking what we feed into our body also makes a huge difference. Skincare routine doesn’t need to be highly-priced products but the ingredients are what matters like organic.

Follow these simple yet effective steps to attain a healthy and natural glow :

  • Cleansing

The first step is to cleanse your face to remove dirt, oil, makeup, and other impurities. You can use a gentle cleanser suitable for your skin type, whether it’s dry, oily, combination, or sensitive. Cleansing helps prepare your skin for the next steps and prevents clogged pores.

There are a few different types of cleansers to choose from, including foaming cleansers, gel cleansers, and oil based cleansers. It’s important to choose a cleanser that is appropriate for your skin type. Here, are some recommendations for cleansers to try:

  • Toning

Applying a toner helps balance the skin’s pH levels, remove any residual traces of cleanser, and can provide additional hydration or specific benefits depending on the toner’s formulation. Some toners also contain ingredients like antioxidants or soothing agents.

  • Treatment (serums or spot treatments)

It is completely optional if you’re new to start the skincare routine. You can totally skip this step and jump onto the moisturizing step. But if incase , you’re up for this step , here how it benefits you ;

This step involves applying targeted products that address specific skin concerns, such as acne, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, or hydration. Serums are usually lightweight and contain concentrated active ingredients. This could include products that contain ingredients like Vitamin C  that work on improving glow while reducing dark spots & hyperpigmentation, Retinol to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, or Niacinamide to brighten skin tone and improve uneven skin texture.  

Simply apply 2-3 drops of the serum to your face and neck, and gently pat it onto your skin. Allow the product to absorb into the skin before moving on to the next step.  

  • Moisturizing

Applying a moisturizer helps lock in hydration, maintain the skin’s natural barrier, and prevent moisture loss. Even if you have oily skin, it’s important to use a suitable moisturizer to keep your skin balanced. It’s important to choose a moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin type. For example, if you have oily or acne-prone skin, you may benefit from using a lightweight, oil-free gel based or lotion-based moisturizer that won’t clog pores. If you have dry or sensitive skin, you may prefer to use a thicker, cream-based moisturizer that helps to seal in moisture more effectively. 

  • Sunscreen

Sun protection is a crucial step in a skincare routine to protect your skin from the harmful effects of UV radiation. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, and apply it every morning, even on cloudy days. Apply a generous amount of sunscreen to your face and neck, and massage it in until it is fully absorbed. Make sure to pay extra attention to areas that are most prone to sun damage, such as the nose, ears, and lips. 

  • Exfoliation(weekly)

Exfoliation can be done 1-3 times a week, depending on your skin type. It involves the use of exfoliating products like scrubs, chemical exfoliants , to remove dead skin cells , blackheads , whiteheads and helps to avoid acne. You can go for any scrub suitable to your skin type and gently scrub through all over your face especially focusing on the T zone of your face which is forehead, nose , under lip area .

  • Masks

You can go for homemade masks like besan , multani mitti , neem , oatmeal etc, or you can buy readymade organic-based facemasks for extra nourishment and care. Masks helps your skin in hydration and moisturization , removes excess oil , helps in reducing signs of aging. Masks are use once a week after exfoliation step.
