Uttarakhand: Heavy rains in Mussoorie left debris on the road, traffic disrupted; ‘Floating cars’ taken out from Ganga in Haridwar

In Mussoorie, the queen of hills, traffic has been affected due to heavy rains due to debris falling on the roads at many places. NH 707 A was closed due to debris on the road below Kingreg on Mussoorie-Dehradun road, due to which the vehicles of dozens of tourists and local people got stuck.
Mussoorie resident RP Badoni told that they were coming to Mussoorie from Dehradun but due to heavy rain, heavy debris came on the road near Kingreg due to which the NH was closed at around 11.30 am but the road did not open till 1 am. Told that many vehicles are stranded due to road closure. NH’s EE Navneet Pandey said that as soon as the information about closure of NH was received, JCB machine was sent to the spot and the work of removing debris is going on. A vehicle also got hit by the debris and some part of the vehicle got buried under the debris.
On the other hand, the road was closed due to debris near Mussoorie-Doon road Galogi. As soon as the information was received, PWD opened the road by deploying a JCB machine. PWD EE Jitendra Tripathi told that the road was closed due to debris coming from the mountain due to heavy rains, but a JCB machine was deployed on the spot due to which the road was immediately opened. The road near Galogi remained closed for about half an hour.
SDRF pulled out ‘floating cars’ from Ganga
On the other hand, in Haridwar, SDRF pulled out floating cars from the streams of Ganga which had been washed away in the river due to heavy rains a day earlier. It is said that these vehicles were parked at a place built on the banks of a local river, but after heavy rains, these vehicles fell into the Ganga due to water flow. The vehicles floated to Har Ki Paadi where a huge crowd gathered to see them.
