Khatu Shyam Baba Ji is a Hindu deity. The temple of Khatu Shyam is located in Sikra district, Rajasthan, India.

He is the form of Lord Krishna. Khatu Shyam’s name was Barbarik. Khatu Shyam is highly populated for his love, devotion, and qualities. Devotees believe that worshiping Baba Ji fulfills their desires and brings blessings. He was famous in the Kaluga era for his blessings and guidance. Lord Krishna gave this name and position to Barbarik for his sacrifice.

He is the son of Ghatotkacha and Maurvi. He was a great warrior of the Mahabharata and changed the results in a few minutes. He worships Lord Shiva and Durga Devi. He wanted moksha, so he meditated with the Lord Krishna and for weapons he meditated with the Maa Durga.

Story Behind Khatu Shyam Baba Ji

The Mahabharata war begins, and Barbarik also goes alone to join the war. The Lord Krishna comes to meet Barbarik on the way in the form of a Brahmin. Krishna asks the barbarik if you are going alone in the war without any army, and he says, ‘I am enough’.

Shree Krishna tested Barbarik’s skills, and he gave him the task of piercing all the leaves of the tree with one arrow. Shree Krishna hides one leaf in the foot. Barbarik targets all the leaves of the tree. Krishna Ji saw that he also targeted the hidden leaf.

Shree Krishna is impressed by his skills and refuses to allow Barbarik to join the war because he can end it at the moment. But the Barbarik disobeyed Brahmin, and he stopped him. Then, the Barbarik targeted the Pandavas and their army with a single arrow.

Shri Krishna kills Barbarik with Sudarshan chakra, but his severed head tells Krishna, “I had already recognized you, but I wanted Moksha by your hands.” Barbarik requests Krishna that he wants to see his leelas` in the war. Krishna agrees to his request, and his severed head watches the Mahabharata war.
